Creating Portfolios

Video Transcript

In this video, we're going to take you through how to set up and use portfolios.

The first thing you want to notice is that when you open a new chart book, "Portfolio 1" is your default. You can rename this by highlighting the name and, for example, renaming it "Lance's Portfolio," or you can create a new one and name it "Tom's Portfolio." Now, we have Lance's Portfolio and Tom's Portfolio. You'll notice we have two dropdowns listing them, and you can create as many portfolios as you want, allowing you to move between them.

Let's say in Tom's Portfolio, we open up "AAP" and "FNG," so we have two stocks there. Then, we go to Lance's Portfolio and add Boeing, Ford, and Tesla, giving us three charts in Lance's Portfolio and two in Tom's. We can switch between them easily, organizing our charts effectively.

An important point about portfolios is that they are built inside a single book. We have a book file, and within that file, we can have multiple portfolios. Now, let's save this file. We'll go up to "Save," give it a name—let's call it "Test" for now—and hit Save. Now we have a book called "Test," which contains multiple portfolios.
