Managing Multiple Charts & Monitors
Video Transcript
In this video, I want to explain how to use multiple charts simultaneously within Track and Trade. The first thing we need to do is open up a couple of charts. So, we're going to open up Apple, and within Apple, we're going to open up a 5-minute chart, a 1-minute chart, and a 15-minute chart. As you can see, we now have four charts open for Apple, but we’re only displaying one at a time.
If we would like to display all four charts on the screen simultaneously, here’s a quick shortcut. If you hover over the little right-hand corner up here, you’ll notice some tile buttons. These allow you to display the charts in any format you want: a four-way split, a two-way above, or a two-way beside. If we click the tile button in the upper right-hand corner, it will bring all four charts onto the screen simultaneously.
To bring any one chart back to full screen, click the same tile button in the upper right-hand corner of the chart you want to enlarge, and it’ll bring that chart to full screen. Here’s the 1-minute chart, for example. You can bring all four charts back on the screen and move them around individually to put them in different locations. For instance, if I want to place the 15-minute chart in the upper right, I just grab the header of the 15-minute chart, hold down the left mouse button, drag it to the desired spot, and release the mouse button. Similarly, I can move the 1-minute chart to the left by grabbing the header, left-clicking, dragging it to the location I want, and releasing it to trade locations.
Now, let's set up the ability to switch between two stocks, like Apple and Boeing, each with four charts. To do this, I first create a portfolio labeled "Portfolio One," naming it Apple with the symbol. Next, I create a new portfolio named Boeing. Now, with the Boeing portfolio, I open a 1-minute chart, a 5-minute chart, and a 15-minute chart. I can display all four Boeing charts on the screen, positioning them as desired. If I want to go back to my Apple charts, I just switch to the Apple portfolio, and all of my Apple charts appear on the screen again. I can seamlessly go back and forth between Apple and Boeing, each with individual symbols.
Let's say I want to display Boeing and Apple simultaneously. I create a new portfolio called "Apple and Boeing." In this portfolio, I open both the Apple and Boeing charts. To display them side by side rather than stacked, I can bring in a third chart to adjust their arrangement. This allows me to place Boeing and Apple charts side by side while minimizing or removing the extra chart.
If you have multiple monitors and want to display charts on each monitor, open a second instance of Track and Trade. Drag this second instance to the other monitor, allowing you to have two instances of Track and Trade, one on each monitor. The great thing about this setup is that each monitor will display its own control panel, so you’re not moving back and forth between monitors or returning to the home monitor to find order tools or preferences. This setup makes it fast, easy, and convenient to work with multiple monitors and multiple charts.
