Linking/Combine Option Orders

In this video, I'm going to show you how to combine two options that were placed independently.

So, let's say, for example, the first thing we did is we placed a call option into the market. We're going to go ahead and place this one into the market. Now, we're going to go ahead and place a put option. We're going to buy a put, and we're going to place that one into the market. We're just going to do that with a market order. We say, "Place our order," and you'll notice that we now have two options on the screen, but they are not connected. Notice that they don't have a line connecting between them. That means they went into the exchange on two separate tickets.

But let's say we want to combine them for several reasons. One is that we might want to see them combined in a single parent in our "Positions" tab, or we might want to liquidate them both at the same time, simultaneously, on the same ticket.

All we have to do to connect them is come down into the "Positions" tab, right-click, and select "Manually Link Multilegs." What we're going to do now is take the two multilegs, and these are the available legs. You'll notice that we have the 436 down here in the multileg linking area. We're going to take 444, because it's not down there, and we're going to add the single leg. Now, we have the two independent legs together, and all we have to do is say "Apply and Close," and it's going to link those two together.

You'll notice there's now a line drawn between them on the screen. Now, you'll also notice that they're both listed underneath the same parent. We can now liquidate both options at the same time on the same ticket. All we do is right-click on the option itself, select "Liquidate the Multileg Option," populate the order ticket, and come down here. We can either bid for it or just say "Market Order," place the order, and we're out of both options at the same time.
